Mark Knowles, head of product management at iShares Europe, told Financial News that many experts expect assets to pick up as the autumn months arrive.
His comments came in response to a new report from Debbie Fuhr and Shane Kelly, in which the pair remarked on a slowing down in the ETF market.
According to the duo, who were former employees on the ETF team at Morgan Stanley, assets under management in ETFs fell by 2.4 per cent over the past three months.
That drop came on the back of annual growth of 41 per cent in 2007 and 37 per cent in 2006.
According to the London Stock Exchange, ETFs are "an ideal building block" for creating a balanced portfolio, as they can be spread across a range of securities.
