Adrian Lowcock, a senior investment advisor from Bestinvest, believes that stocks and shares will develop into strong investments over a sustained period of time and that investors need to make sure they do not sell too early at too low a price.
"The stock market in the short term can be higher risk but in the long term there are opportunities to invest," explained Mr Lowcock.
He added: "It is for the medium to longer term investor, the short term investor will run a higher risk of further falls before any recovery."
Recent research from Lloyds TSB revealed that 28 per cent of investors in stocks have moved their money into less risky investors because of growing concerns over the state of the global economy.
