According to Reuters, the index was 1.41 points higher at 09:01 BST, rising to 4,128.58 points.
There were increases for BP, Royal Dutch Shell, Tullow Oil and BG Group during early trading, while Anglo American climbed 0.3 per cent.
However, Rio Tinto, Lonmin, BHP Billiton and Kazakhmys dropped by between 0.2 per cent and 1.6 per cent, while Barclays, HSBC, Royal Bank of Scotland, Standard Chartered and Lloyds Banking Group all recorded losses.
Richard Hunter of Hargreaves Lansdown told the news source that there is "a sense that the recovery might not be as soon or as strong as had been hoped".
Trading on the FTSE 100 on Friday saw the index dip close to a two-month low, as weaker energy and mining stocks dragged the market down.
