The dollar is likely to have gained against the yen for the fourth consecutive week by the time Forex trading ends today (January 8th).

According to Bloomberg, the US currency has risen against its Japanese counterpart in early trading, reaching 93.39 yen after closing on 93.37 yen in New York yesterday.

Later today US employment figures will be released, which are expected to show that the two years of job losses that have taken place in the country has come to an end.

Suzo Kakuta, foreign exchange adviser for Tokyo Tomin Bank, told the news source that "speculation about an early exit from stimulus in the US is increasing", thanks to the "plethora of data confirming a pick-up of the economy".

The greenback has performed strongly against its Japanese counterpart for most of this week, but fell 0.7 per cent to 91.88 yen on Monday (January 4th), helping it to regain some of the ground it lost during December.
