Research: Post-holiday blues make many workers want to quit

Almost half (46 per cent) of the UK workforce consider quitting their jobs after going on holiday, according to new research.

The study by Direct HolidayBookings.co.uk found that post-holiday blues is endemic among British workers, with over half (56 per cent) saying they feel unsettled when their return to their desks after a relaxing break.

Andrew Gibson, the website's director, said holidays are a vital way for people to recharge their batteries.

He commented: "But it's only natural that, as they return to the daily grind after a fantastic break, many people will suffer from post-holiday blues or become unsettled in their jobs when they return to their desks."

Cary Cooper, professor of organisational psychology at the University of Manchester Institute for Science and Technology, claimed that the Monday morning after returning from holiday can be a cause of depression, reports the BBC.
