A new survey suggests jobs prospects for the New Year are going to hit a 150-year low next year, news that could lead to an increase in the number of people signing up for a free stock market seminar.

The latest employment outlook survey from Manpower found that net employment outlook in UK has dropped by two percentage points.

Managing director of Manpower UK, Mark Cahill, claimed the loss of intellectual capital and highly skilled workers by small firms should not be underestimated.

"We'd like to encourage employers where possible not to knee-jerk into making dramatic changes to human resources strategy and staffing levels and consider innovative alternatives such as shorter working weeks and short-term shut downs," he said.

The online recruitment company Monster also announced that its index fell by nine percentage points last month.

The largest fall in job demand was reported in the south-west, though Northern Ireland actually experienced a growth in the availability of online jobs.ADNFCR-1681-ID-18919417-ADNFCR
