The leading index on the British stock exchange is heading for its longest run of weekly gains since April, it has been noted.

According to a report by Bloomberg, the FTSE 100 added less than 0.1 per cent at 5,544.82 this afternoon with worries easing that global economic recovery is slowing.

And a report written today (September 17th) by Karen Olney, an equity strategist at UBS AG, stated that there is still an "exceptional" long-run value available in the markets.

She added that equities are seen "an asset class that could receive more attention from asset allocators and pension funds".

In addition, there was positive news for Invensys Plc today as it surged 3.6 per cent after announcing an alliance with CSR Corp of China.

This news comes after the news provider noted yesterday that the FTSE 100 was down 0.3 per cent at 5,540.14 at the close in London, with more than two stocks falling for every one that increased.
