Vodafone and Barclays results 'lead to FTSE 100 gain'
//
Gains for Vodafone and Barclays have led to an increase for the FTSE 100 this morning (November 9th), it has been reported.

According to Reuters, the leading index on the British stock exchange rose by 24.25 points or 0.4 per cent to get nearer to its 29-month high experienced last week.

Vodafone was one of the biggest success stories of the day, adding plenty of points to the blue chip index, after it raised its profit outlook.

What's more, the mobile phone network provider also announced it is set to sell its interests in Japanese carrier SoftBank for £3.1 billion.

Barclays recorded positive figures, adding 2.9 per cent, while it moved up one per cent on the UK banking index.

This comes after the FTSE 100 was down 0.3 per cent around midday yesterday at 5,858.81 after metal prices eased and mining firms such as Xstrata and Anglo American were struck with low numbers.
