Stock exchange news: European shares given a boost
//
European shares have been given a boost this morning (December 13th), which may please those trading on the stock exchange.

The FTSEurofirst 300 has increased by 0.4 per cent, rising for a sixth consecutive time and reaching a 26-month high, Reuters reports.

The index rose to 1,130.23 points after being boosted up to 1,131.12, which was its best level since September 2008.

According to the news provider, US and Chinese data played a part in encouraging investors to splash their cash.

Koen De Leus, strategist at KBC Securities, said: "Market sentiment is bullish because of strong economic data and some positive policy announcements in the United States in the past weeks."

But he pointed out there are not too many investors who want to take large risks as the end of 2010 draws nearer.

This comes after the FTSEurofirst 300 closed up 0.2 per cent on Friday, but there were fears China may tighten its monetary policy.
