According to Bloomberg, by 13:47 the leading index on the British stock exchange stood at 5,882.72 following falls of 0.2 per cent yesterday.
But there were some positive moves in the UK markets today as GKN, which makes aircraft components for Airbus SAS, increased by three per cent to 213.8 pence, making it the best performer in the FTSE 100 on the day.
Other increases came for Serco, which put on 2.8 per cent to 589.5 pence, but there was bad news for BP as it shed 1.4 per cent to 469.95 pence.
This comes after the index's longest winning streak since September ended yesterday morning as it fell by 0.4 per cent in London after the UK stocks fell for the first time in five days, Bloomberg reported.
