Those who trade on the stock exchange might be keen to note the index has risen by 53.65 points to 6,051.03, Bloomberg reports.
And this comes after positive results from a number of companies, such as AstraZeneca as it shares rose by 0.8 per cent to 2,957 pence after the drug manufacturer stopped a trial for a possible prostate cancer treatment as it was made clear the drug would be unlikely to meet its target.
What's more, BP stock climbed 1.1 per cent to 481.5 pence and shares in Marks & Spencer advanced by one per cent after the company employed Tesco's Laura Wade-Gery to run its ecommerce and multichannel retail operation.
This comes after the FTSE 100 increased by 0.8 per cent yesterday afternoon - with Cairn Energy putting on 1.2 per cent - and by 0.2 per cent on Friday afternoon.
