The FTSE 100 has decreased by less than 0.1 per cent this afternoon (February 17th), those who trade on the stock exchange may be interested to note.

It had plummeted by 1.85 points to 6,083.42 as of 12:12 GMT, lowering its advance for this year to 3.1 per cent, according to Bloomberg.

But one of the main positives of the day came for RBS, which gained 3.5 per cent to 48.87 pence, although there was negative news for BAE Systems and Reed Elsevier.

BAE, the largest defence company in Europe, shed 4.6 per cent to 339.2 pence after the organisation predicted its revenue will go down this year.

What's more, Reed decreased by 2.9 per cent to 557.5 pence.

This comes after the FTSE 100 index advanced by 0.6 per cent yesterday afternoon - and there were rises for a number of companies including Resolution, which surged by 4.8 per cent to 276.6 pence.
