The FTSE 100 has decreased by 0.4 per cent this afternoon (February 18th), it has been revealed.

According to Bloomberg, the largest index on the British stock exchange shed 26.19 points to 6,061.19 by 12:29 GMT, meaning it is nearly unchanged for the week, but still up by 2.7 per cent throughout the year.

But there were positive results for a number of companies, including Go-Ahead Group, which put on 4.6 per cent to 1,376 pence, its largest gain in more than two months.

This came after it announced first-half net income had increased to £36.5 million.

Nevertheless, there was bad news for Rio Tinto - the third biggest mining company in the world - which experienced a 2.2 per cent drop to 4,399.5 pence.

What's more, the FTSE 100 index was down by less than 0.1 per cent yesterday afternoon as it dropped by 1.85 points to 6,083.42 shortly after midday.
