According to Bloomberg, the leading index on the British stock exchange moved down by 24.59 points to 5,820.7 by 11:50 GMT.
Among the companies to have decreased today are Prudential, which slid by two per cent to 720.5 pence - and Aviva also suffered with a fall of 1.2 per cent to 455.3 pence.
Other negative results came from Dixons, which shed 2.3 per cent to 17.15 pence after the electronics company's shares were moved from "buy" to "hold" at Citigroup.
This comes after the FTSE 100 decreased by 0.3 per cent on Wednesday afternoon, an improvement from its decline of 0.5 per cent that morning.
And this occurred after Prudential had recorded a positive result when it surged by 4.8 per cent to 748 pence, as its dividend increased by 20 per cent.
