Manchester United consider IPO in Hong Kong
//
The Glazer family is reportedly considering the financial implications of conducting its stock market trading operations for Manchester United in Hong Kong rather than London.

While the American owners paid £790 million for the club in 2005, advisors have told them it would be reasonable to expect the side to be valued at £1.7 billion if the company was floated in Hong Kong.

Talks are at a very early stage, but the Glazers could certainly be tempted to head east, given the prospect of doubling their money in six years.

The Premier League champions are hugely popular in Asia and are one of Britain's richest clubs.

But the Glazers have been deeply unpopular during their time in the north-west of England, as they saddled the club with huge debts as a result of their acquisition.

NEBusiness.co.uk noted that the Manchester United balance book is weighed down by the interest payments on the loans.
