The rally in the Dow Jones Industrial Average on Thursday (July 7th) helped the Philippine stock market to record gains on Friday.

According to the Philippine Star, the local bourse climbed 0.35 per cent, while a rise of 0.22 per cent was seen on the all-share index, taking it to 3,070.80 points.

Over the course of the day's stock market trading, 81 of the individual stocks grew in value, 59 declined and 37 remained unchanged.

Justino Calaycay, an analyst at Accord Capital Equities, claimed the Philippine stock market is searching for a reason to keep trades above the 4,400-point mark.

"The impending resolutions to the fiscal and credit crisis in Europe and the US have given sufficient increase in risk-taking," the expert commented.

Shares in San Miguel, the Philippines-based food, beverage and packaging conglomerate, saw an increase in the value on Friday after the company named the banks that will handle the initial public offering of its energy arm.
