Euro falters ahead of key summit
//
The euro has fallen slightly in forex trading before an emergency meeting of European Union leaders, as investors doubt the outcome of the process.

Political representatives will meet on Thursday (July 21st) to discuss the sovereign debt problem that has seen Greece receive aid packages without emerging from its crisis.

German chancellor Angela Merkel summed up investor concerns by saying a solution to Greek troubles at the event is unrealistic currently.

The single currency dropped 0.1 per cent to $1.4135 on Wednesday, reported Reuters, with Tsutomu Soma telling the newswire that no one is buying the euro "wholeheartedly".

"There hasn't been any progress and the euro just seems to be moving this way and that within a range," explained the senior manager for Okasan Securities' foreign securities department.

Commerzbank strategist You-Na Park told Dow Jones that trading is likely to be volatile until the EU summit comes to an end.
