Stock market investors urged to take a long-term view

People who have made a stock market investment have been urged not to be caught up too much in the daily ups and downs.

John Chatfeild-Roberts, chief investment officer at Jupiter Asset Management, told the Daily Telegraph that now is a good time to assess goals and attitudes to risk.

He suggested that those involved in stock market trading stay calm and avoid making hasty decisions that could have adverse effects in the long term.

"Think about your investment objectives and attitude to risk, then run the slide rule over your portfolio to check that your investments are aligned with these objectives," he stated.

The expert added that this step may even provide investors with the chance to evaluate whether or not there are other sectors or areas of opportunity that they could branch out into.

Last week, founder of the Vanguard Group Jack Bogle asserted that the stock market still represents an investment option that could provide people with solid returns, reported the Morning Star.
